Yet another tangled literary spiral of introspection
as I furiously try to hide my true words
in veils and skeins of prosey poetry
Run up the flags of intellectual superiority
He's such a good writer
look at these words
and I want you to read it
and I know that you'll read it
and the challenge is to bury the message
just enough so that I can convince myself
that maybe you understood me
and maybe you didn't
but in my dreams you'll come running to me with shining eyes
and no words will need to be said, because you understood all I wrote
and we'll tear all our clothes off right then and there
so enough of this gay banter
the reasons why I can't say
I love you
are so deep seated I've even lost sight of them myself.
(and I wonder if they're even there at all)
ONCE MORE INTO THE BREECH, MY FRIENDS
Though the last sortie was repulsed at the gates
With words so sweet I couldn't fight back
I ready myself for another attack
to capture your smile.

Comments
Have to say, I'm very familiar with the whole 'flags of intellectual superiority' comment.
Nice poem, prof.

"Why do you fight? For Love? For Hate? For Power? For Allegiance? For Revenge? For Dream? For Justice? For Sin? For Destiny? The world is full of fighting."
I think all writers can relate to this, though. At least I can. We all try to pour a little bit of ourselves into our work in hopes of someone understanding the deeper meaning. Just maybe.
